REAL WEDDING - Amelia and Damien at the Grounds of Arcadia/ Hellenic Museum

Amelia and Damien had a really fun wedding ceremony at the Grounds of Arcadia/ Hellenic Museum and they carried that vibe through to the after party. The smile did not leave Amelia’s face as they celebrated with their friends and family.

She was stunning but also clearly comfortable in her strapless Suzanne Harward gown- and Damien absolutely rocked his tux. Amelia’s maids wore different dresses and different colours within a sorbet toned palette. Damien lads rocked sharp suits. Surely one of the best looking wedding parties I’ve ever seen!

Georgia Verrells smashed their photos out of the park- capturing the emotion and their personalities and doing portraits at the Fitzroy Gardens and on the streets of the Melbourne CBD.

The after party was held at the beautiful Half Acre in South Melbourne. Warm autumnal tones, pears and clutches of olive branches adorned the tables and that perfect slant of light that is crucial for atmosphere.

They partied well into the night with a live DJ with their crew. A cracking night had by all and no doubt a few sore heads the next day.

I asked them to answer some questions about their day

1. What was the best decision you made?

Looking back I’m so happy with a lot of the decisions we made for our wedding, but I think the best decision we made was to have the day represent who we are and choosing great vendors to help us. The amazing ceremony that Nat did to tell our guests about our story and what marriage meant to us really set the tone and made our day so special.

2. Did anything not go to plan/what would you do differently?

Probably the only thing that didn’t go quite to plan was the music at the reception. There were some technical difficulties that meant the music stopped every now and again during the night which was a little disappointing. The DJ did apologise at the end of the night and sometimes technology just doesn’t work, but the music wasn’t quite the vibe we were going for (picture the lyrics “It’s Britney B**ch” playing immediately after Uptown Funk by Mark Ronson) so I hate to say it but if we had to do it again to be honest we’d choose a different DJ.

3. What was your fave part of the day?

Definitely my favourite part of the day was being announced as husband and wife and then the massive cheer we got from our guests walking back down the aisle and signing our marriage certificate on the bar! Damien and I were both a little nervous before the ceremony (Damien was so nervous/teary, I was excited) that it was nice to be officially married and let the party begin!

Also just to add, our favourite part before the wedding was filling out Nat’s questionnaire and reminiscing on all the amazing, fun times we’ve had together.

4. In a few words, what advice would you give couples planning their wedding now?

Make sure you meet all your vendors in person if you can before the day, make a realistic budget and stick to it and forget about the small things!
