Caithlin and Ben’s post office hotel Wedding
Relaxed vibes, excellent beverages.
and a ripping good d floor in 3058.
Caity and Ben are two of the biggest legends you could meet. We connected immediately over a shared love of good food and complete intolerance of shitty wine. Ben works for a wine supplier and POH allowed him to bring in all his own faves. Not only wine, but cocktails and beers flowed freely.
They even had a glass of champs in their hand during the ceremony.
They tapped into the talents of friends and family to pad out their team. Including having a well known Melb band play in the evening.
They focused on the stuff that mattered to them. Caity got her dress online for 150 bucks and couldn’t have been happier.
I always say, that aside from actually seeing their people married, the things that matter most at weddings are good food, abundant booze and a d floor.
And that was exactly their ethos too.
1. What was the your vibe/ aesthetic of your day?
I wanted to elope and Ben wanted a big party, so we compromised and had a big party Neither of us like being in the spotlight so we just wanted a fun, relaxed, party atmosphere where the ceremony was short but super special and kicked off the fun vibes for the festivities that followed. We wanted the ceremony and ‘reception’ to be at the one venue and the POH ticked those boxes and soooo many more.
2. What was the best decision you made?
We made many great decisions, all informed by my extensive research. Booking you (which was an no-brainer) and booking the Post Office Hotel. And booking Jack (photographer). These were the three critical vendors who we completely vibed with and have been the three vendor services complimented by guests and remembered fondly by all of us. Other good decisions for us included keeping the guest list small (50 pax). And buying a $150 dress online & not spending thousands. And getting a photo booth. And taking the week off before the wedding, even though everything was organised - I got to chill, have lunches, massages, head spas, etc and not leave any space for last minute stresses to invade our state of zen. Ben worked all week though - we have different personalities and coping needs/strategies. And finally, paying for everything ourselves so no one had any ammunition to provide opinions and expect outcomes that THEY wanted.

3. Did anything not go to plan/ what would you do differently?
Nope. Everything went exactly to plan. I had a spreadsheet with a back up plan for EVERY. SINGLE. ELEMENT. on the day… From backup flowers to backup outfits to an alternative venue if the POH burnt down. Having the backup plans alleviated any anxiety and worry. If anything don’t go to plan, I don’t notice & TBH it wouldn’t have mattered. I got to marry Ben.

4. What was your fave part of the day?
Tough ask. Soooo many faves… From getting ready with my girls, to the killer ceremony, to the amazing food and DF shape-cutting with friends… If I had to narrow it down to ONE fave though, it would be the 15 minutes Ben and I spent on the rooftop with the photographer at sunset. We cracked open a bottle of Cristal and cheersed to us and had a lovely, private, super-fun-happy-time, just the two of us. They’re my favourite photos too.
5. In a few words- what advice would you give couples planning their wedding now?
Make all decisions based on what YOU want and what works for YOUR vibe. This is key to your wedding being the BEST day of YOUR lives. Hard to do but worth it.
